To EY. from EFC. X3988 EFC2/T3.2.28. RE AUTO CHARGE CONTROL SWITCH. X 4008 We have received from Mr. Olley a note concerning the auto switch, spare copy of which we attach. We should be pleased if you would arrange to have instructed a further unit similar to the three units which have recently been made up experimentally and which, with the recent modifications, we now consider satisfactory as regards mechanical design. It is suggested that this be instructed under a special Order Number, under which this unit may be duly and suitably charged to the American Company. Perhaps you could arrange for this. In regard to the details of suitable windings, we make these out to be as follows :- The windings should be wound in directions similar to those given for the three switch recently produced. The shunt winding should consist of 32 SWG. D.S.C. wire, the number of turns of which would be approximately 1400 for the 6-volt system, this filling the space to approx. the same degree as in our 12-volt case. The resistance winding should consist of six feet of 26 SWG. D.C.C. Eureka, arranged to give about 21 turns, i.e. it is packed up a similar distance from the core before the winding is started. The resistance of this will be about 5 ohms as against our approximate 21 ohms for the 12-volt system. Contd. | ||
