BY FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to BJ. BFG. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Y3000 E2/M17.9.27. CRANKCHAMBER FOR SEQUENCE STARTER (PHANTOM). Your Sch. 963. is approved as a means of carrying on with the development of this starter on the existing Phantom engine, but it must not be forgotten that the starter motor cannot be used in this position with the form of exhaust pipe we are adopting with parallel controlled front axle. Nevertheless, we want this scheme to go ahead, and the chassis on which the test will be carried out will accordingly have the present type of double exhaust pipes. Regarding Sch. 964. we do not like moving the diaphragm to a new position as we consider it weakens the arm, and also weakens the crankchamber from the point of view of carrying clutch spring pressure, or a unit gearbox. We will send you particulars at a later date of schemes for applying the sequence starter to the revised Phantom engine. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
