By HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/HDY.{William Hardy}) (At Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.) ORIGINAL R3/M19.2.28. REC'D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} & DESPATCHED FROM WW. 22.2.28. Copy to BJ. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X7830 X7420 EAC.10. ENGINE MOUNTING. Regarding E's suggestion of 4.2.28., altering the body mounting and using the mass of the body to attach the dampers, I fear this would not do, for obvious reasons. Really my car EAC. 7. seems wonderfully good, and it would not justify any very great change and delay to improve upon it. Referring to DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/HDY{William Hardy}'s suggestion of connecting the damper to the mass of the front axle, I fear this would not be practical, but if simple enough it should not be capable of conveying any vibration to the bodywork, and providing we can spare the time I agree to a temporary scheme to test this out. Considering the difficulty and complication that we are suggesting fitting to make the 6 cyl. engine free from its natural faults, it suggests we ought to consider some scheme that will cut out all the complicated dampers, etc. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
