To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} LE CANADELHenry Royce's French residence. HR. c. to CJ. BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to RG.{Mr Rowledge} Mr. Claremont. X5940 RL/MS.8.2.26. BRAKES ADJUSTMENT. X. 8420 X. 5940 It is possible, and I think practical, to make all six brakes on a car adjust themselves automatically for wear and for original setting, thus :- Say back axle. Pull lever loose on shaft, a spring holding this against axle tube, or rope tight in off position. SEE ORIGINAL FOR SKETCH. Is it worth a patent? Would it please Col. Rushton? It can be arranged very neatly, and enclosed in a vaseline filled enclosing chamber. It has very few extra parts, saves some elsewhere, and always keeps levers at correct angles.
