X.3056 7CA & 49GB To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EH. c. to CJ. EH3/LG30.5.19. X.692. X.2631. X.3056. Mr. Wormald and I had an excellent run back to Derby on 7-CA. We arrived here about 4 p.m. The car came very well indeed, we could notice the increase in power, it was also distinctly noticeable that the springing was much smoother than 49-GB. No doubt 49-GB has been upset by greasing the springs. When we arrived at the works, we had 5 1/4 galls. of petrol left in the tank compared with the 3 1/4 galls. we had when we arrived at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town. We came back the same road but our average speed was considerably higher. Mileage from Derby to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town is 191 miles so that the consumption was 13.2 m.p.g. at an average speed of 24 m.p.h. on 49-GB, 15 m.p.g. at an average speed of 28.3 m.p.h. on 7-CA.
