XF32 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rn. {Mr Robinson} 14/KT. January 11th 1933. Crosby Valve & Engineering Co, Ltd, 41 & 42 Foley Street, London. W.1. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of the 10th. inst. Your interpretation of our drawing F.100692 in your letter seems quite correct, except that probably you do not realise that the spring opposing the movement of the bellows has practically no load in the initial position. We find that your present bellows does not return to the initial position, when the oil pressure is released. Any rating of the bellows is a disadvantage. As you mention in your letter, the bellows is intended to be an oil sealing device which transmits various loads on to the opposing spring. The movement of the bellows required is .125". It would appear that a more flexible bellows would give us satisfactory results. We have just ordered 12 more bellows and would like these if possible to be more flexible than the first lot. We should like you to let us have the sample bellows with temporary end pieces, as soon as possible, so that we can say if such a bellows is likely to be suitable for this next batch. During testing your bellows, we found one that leaked very badly. This was caused from inferior soldering of the end piece to the bellows. cont'd. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
