-5- The addition of restriction to the L.P. side definitely transferred the squawk from the L.P. to the H.P. stroke and at first it appeared the "balancing" the restrictions would have the desired effect, but although exact balance was not obtained it was soon found that "balancing" by the addition of restriction was more likely to produce noise on both strokes. Also, that if exact balance had produced the desired effect, the limiting variation was too delicate to be of much use productionally. As previously stated, it was originally intended to attack the problem from the reverse direction, i.e., removing all restriction from the H.P. side, but this could not be attained without making a special damper. There are one or two points against this theory but it has distinct possibilities. No diagrams were taken during these tests, therefore the actual effect of the added restriction upon the internal pressures has not to date been ascertained. Further experiments in this direction are at present suspended, but will be continued as soon as possible. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /W.Bell. | ||
