COPY. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} RC{R. Childs}/L/16.10.37. Re: Chassis No. 3-AZ-38. "I left Coventry on the morning of the 25th of August on a Press run to King's Lynn. Mr. Bourdon took the wheel and drove until we were about 12 miles from King's Lynn when he asked me to take the wheel and show him how the car cornered. I walked round the car to see if everything was alright. I drove the car and took several corners perfectly, but just before King's Lynn I was taking a bend fast when I had the following experience:- As I came into the bend a lorry was approaching us and I turned the steering wheel in a normal manner and to my surprise this had no effect as the car continued straight, I immediately locked hard over and avoided the oncoming lorry. This should not have been necessary as the bend was not sharp. I stopped immediately and found my offside tyre flat. I can only suggest that I had a slow puncture in the tyre and that it actually flattened out as I came to the bend. There was no second experience and the wheel was immediately changed. There was a very strong wind bearing on the offside of the car at the time." (Sgd.) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Burrage. RC.{R. Childs} | ||
