To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EH. EH10/T1.1.19. 1st. January 1919. "EAGLE" PARTS MADE IN AMERICA. X.3381. We have completed 100 hours running on a set of connecting rods made in America. These rods were fitted on theengine just as they were received out of the cases. When we examined them after 50 hours running, we noticed that on four of the rods the white metal was loose. We have run on without the bearings being touched A set of pistons also supplied from America has run for 100 hours without any signs of trouble. A set of valves has now completed 74 hours quite satisfactorily. EH. | ||
