RE DUNLOP WIRE WHEELS.

It is pointed out that in the wire wheels now being supplied on chasses on test the tyre valve comes in such a position in relation to the spokes that it is impossible to remove the valve cover or screw on a pump connection; that is to say, it is necessary to bend the tyre valve over by a tyre lever in order to do this.

It appears to us that the fault is in the inspection, as previous wire wheels with triple spokes have the valve in the right place, so that it would appear that these wheels are not to sample.

In order to overcome the difficulty we suggest that we should fit up an experimental set of wire wheels in which a new hole is drilled for the tyre valve probably on the opposite side of the wheel to the present position and the present hole for the valve would be filled up by a special plug. If this method of dealing with the wheels is approved it could be then used until the existing wheels are altered or replaced.
