PRELIMINARY SPECIFICATION OF 28HP. CHASSIS.

Wheelbase and general dimensions of chassis remain as present 25HP.

ENGINE.
3.4 X 5"
6 = Capacity 4.46litres.

As per design in hand and including all economies suggested by HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} on P. 2. lines, together with others.

Engine to be diamond mounted with pivots fore and aft of power unit, and feet to take torque only opposite flywheel casing. Torque reaction dampers will be required at front end.

The feet taking torque will triangulate the frame in plan view.

Normal engine to have 1 sparking plug per cyl. and battery ignition only. Magneto ignition to be fitted as an extra with two plugs per cyl.

CLUTCH.
To LeC. 2830. - i.e. lighter flywheel and clutch, pushed as close up as possible to rear bearing.

GEARBOX.
For the gearbox it is proposed to incorporate in the present box a silent helical third, and dog clutch change, together with the adaptations of P. 2. practice suggested by HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}

PROPELLER SHAFT & UNIVERSAL JOINTS.
As now.

BACK AXLE.
For the back axle Works suggest that the banjo type is a much better production job, and since we have to make new arrangements to put the hypoid axle into production, as well as strengthen the axle tubes and shafts, and as we believe R.{Sir Henry Royce} himself has a favourable opinion of the banjo type, there is reason now for reconsidering this point.

FRONT AXLE.
Same as now except for the introduction of certain economies suggested as a result of investigation by Works and WW.

FRAME & SUSPENSION.
Same as now except for economies suggested by Works and WW., and including the new and improved shock dampers now in process of design.
