| 1788 SHOCK ABSORBER TESTS BROOKLANDS 9.8.34. The object was to ascertain whether the Phantom benefitted as much from Hartfords as the Bentley. It was found that for the same degree of discomfort there was little to choose between the two types of damper. At about 20 lbs. gauge pressure the car was perfectly controllable with the Hydraulics and it is difficult to believe that more than this is required with the roll rod which was fitted. 14 lbs. gauge pressure on the R.R. scheme is equivalent in control to 250 gauge on single rear Telecontrol and 100 front double Telecontrol.
