To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From G.T.H. Hotel de France, Chateauroux, FRANCE. 6.7.32. X7941 19-LK.{L. King} We have obtained a piston E.79355 from Paris. The bedding and clearances appear to be identical to the one taken out. The piston head evidentally becomes hot as there is as much carbon deposit on the underside as on the top. I remember R.{Sir Henry Royce} remarking that this showed the piston head was too thin and that the heat was not being transmitted sufficiently to the cylinder walls. We enclose a sketch of the No.6 piston taken out. No.2, 4, and 5, have got broken piston ring stops. No.1 and 3 are so far OK. G.W.H. G.W.Hancock | ||
