Report on Distance Plate F.4971 for Rear Spring Clips.

These plates are made from 3/16" flat steel and are fitted on top of the rear springs to keep the spring clips at the correct distance apart and to distribute the work more evenly. (There is a tendency for the spring clips to move closer together at the top end due to the curvature of the spring when in motion)

The weight of each plate is 10 ozs. and two are required per car. The plates are quite satisfactory in use and I have no improvement to suggest unless it is that the weight should be reduced if possible although the piece seems quite in proportion with the spring clips. Perhaps a pair of plates 1/8" thick might be tried.
