Complaint about car springs bumping on rubber buffers due to reduced clearance on the 40/50 HP model.

The relative clearance between the front spring and the rubber buffer is reduced by approx. 15% on the 40/50 HP. cars fitted with 4-wheel brakes. Originally, WW. design gave considerably less clearance than this. We complained of the springs bumping and the design was altered to the above proportions. The drivers in France have pointed out that the springs strike the buffers more frequently than on the standard car but it has not been put forward as a serious complaint. The reason for giving less clearance between the springs and the buffer was to reduce the stress in the road springs. We do not consider that the bumping on the buffers on the latest 40/50 HP. should give cause for complaint. Sales have run 48-PK car (EAC.111.) 5,000 miles. We have not heard of any complaint in connection with the springs strikeing the buffers on that car. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
