RE P & R BATTERIES.

With reference to EY15/H27.10.26, we entirely agree with the first paragraph.

There seems, however, to be an impression that the height dimension of the cell box was contained in our specification. The overall dimensions of the complete battery and of individual cells are given in that specification, but not the height dimension of the cell box. Therefore the difference of ¼" which exists between the cell boxes is not a P & R fault exclusively, but a mutual fault in their not having worked together in fixing the dimensions of these, as was initially arranged.

It would appear that P & R have utilised the available space in the best possible way, whereas the Exide have not been prepared to do this.

We agree with the last paragraph, that it would be very much better if we could persuade the Exide Co. to come into line with the P & R than the other way round, because of the increased available internal cell space which P & R have demonstrated is possible. The only fault of which P & R Co. is culpable, and of which the Exide Co. is not, is the fact that they have exceeded our overall height dimension by a very small amount.
