Re Extra Petrol Tank on Car 2074-

The tank was instructed to be of the same size & to be slung in same manner as was tank on Car 1811, which was, I believe, in every way satisfactory.
Since that car was delivered, however, I have learned from Repairs that our Axle seatings for 3/4 elliptic springs are very much too small & after being on the road for, say, 12 months allows the frame to swing sideways to a much greater extent than can obtain on a new Chassis.
In order to provide for this side swing which will probably follow the rapid wear of axle seats, it was necessary to cut away the corner of the tank, after it was made, to clear the axle.
