X.3181 - DALBY WATSON INDICATOR.
X.2981 - INDICATOR DIAGRAM APPARATUS.

In answer to your note R10/W2118, with reference to indicators, we received a little while ago a visit from Messrs. Cussons, and the matter of their indicator is at the moment in their hands for the scheming out of a rig, to enable this indicator to be adopted to our Eagle engine, also to the Mercedes Gotha Biplane engine, which we have at present. We are writing them again to-day and we shall hope to be able to get something going in this direction very shortly now.

Referring to your indicator diagram apparatus originally described to me by Mr. Elliott's memo E3/G17317, at the time we took up the idea of the Dalby Watson indicator, all the parts for this apparatus had been instructed, but as this entailed a considerable amount of work, we have thought it advisable to hold this in abeyance pending our experiments with the Dalby Watson scheme. We are, however, going on with the little three throw oil pump because of this coming in useful for other purposes. We think we should see what kind of results we can obtain with the Dalby Watson indicator and then if this cannot be considered satisfactory, we might go on with your scheme of the indicator diagram apparatus.
