Complete Rear Axle with Brakes and Hubs obtained from Production and modified to NS.{Norman Scott}4785, 4814 i.e. Strengthened Diff Box, with large thrust washers. Passed to Test 14.7.36. Conditions of test:- Total Road Mileage - 600 miles. Dyno. 4 hrs. in top gear. 1 hr. in 3rd. gear. 2 hrs. in 2nd. gear. 2 hrs. in 1st. gear. is correct RESULTS. Condition Generally:- Good. Rear Axle LOP.G.83089 incorporating NS.{Norman Scott}4785-4814. Centre Case G.83821 (not ribbed type) -slight distortion as shewn on attached sketch Ex.I.60., probably due to jacking on centre casing. Casing chalk tested for cracks and found O.K. Bevel wheel G.82202 - condition good. Pinion G.84710 - Roller bearing on pinion nose has been revolving, excessive end clearance was found between roller bearing and pinion - .017. Detail drawings have now been altered to give .002 - .007 end clearance. Diff. Box G.84686 R.H. in S/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} G.84687 L.H. in S/M to N.S.4814 - general condition good. Magnetic tested for cracks and found O.K. Thrust washers - Diff. pinions-G.84688-92 BZ/PC. to N.S.4814 - bedding on grooved side is good. Scoring on plain side. continued | ||
