23rd. June 1938.

Messrs. S.Smith & Sons Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
LONDON, N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr. Grosé.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 20th. inst. and the drawings enclosed therein, and look forward to receiving the arrangements of the heaters mentioned early next week.

With regard to the layout of the car heater scheme shown on the blue print which you enclosed, we are sufficiently interested in this to contemplate rigging it up on one of our experimental cars. For this purpose we shall require a fan and motor unit similar to that shown on your drawing EX.Y.10529, but without radiator unit. We would be glad to know if and when you can supply us with one of these. Our official order for same will follow on receipt of this advise.

We shall probably use a radiator unit out of one of the heaters we have here, in conjunction with the necessary piping and valves etc.

We would like to know whether you have any particulars of the small booster blower, if so, would you mention same on your scheme.

With regard to the car heater rheostat discussed with your Mr.Russell, we are now in touch with Lucas about their unit which you brought with you, because they have replied to our request for a quotation for our rheostat to DCD.709 by offering us the identical unit which Mr.Russell brought with him.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
