D48/B17128 17th Dec., 1908. Mr. Johnson. X393 I answer your queries as follows:- Question What is the cost per square yard of building per annum for lighting and heating together? Answer Approximately 6/2 per square yard per annum. This price is inclusive of power and is therefore maximum, taken on our experience for 6 months between May and October, and is for the Works practically in full operation during that period. As this does not include any winter months, I think it may be taken as a fair criterion of lighting alone, although the figures I have taken include power, as we have been unable to separate it during the short time at our disposal. Question What is the ground rent on plots reserved for extension? Answer .99 pence, or say 1d. per square yard for the whole of the ground over which we have options if we rent it, and do not buy. Question What is the depreciation on buildings per square yard per annum? Answer Approximately 1/3. J.D. [Handwritten note] Cost of Building £3 per sq. yard. | ||
