SpectreCodename for Phantom III Steering Column.

Herewith is N. Sch.4276, Marles type steering gearbox for SpectreCodename for Phantom III.

The angle of helix, 6º 35', is the same as Cadillac but the steering column ratio is rather less. All the bearings are roller bearings to avoid the possibility of variable friction when dependent on oil. The resulting irreversibility will have to be investigated. The casings are Dixtampo forgings as now.

The intention is that the Adamant Engineering Co. of Luton shall make the worm, at any rate, at first, as they have much experience and some apparatus. The remainder of the column it is intended that we should make ourselves.

We have submitted the design to the Adamant Engineering Co. for any criticism based on their experience, and some modifications may result.
