PHANTOM III. REAR BRAKE EQUALIZER.

A case has occurred of a Phantom III. being jacked up on its rear brake equalizer and failure of the pivot pin G.84094 resulted.

We recommend that during routine inspections the equalizer should be examined externally and if one should show signs of being bent upwards, then it should be dismantled and further examined. Signs of failure will be similar to those in the report attached.

When the equalizer has been overstressed the pivot pin G.84094, the pendulum lever G.84096 F, the ball bearings and needle roller bearings should be replaced.

We do not think that any further action is necessary because only one case of this has occurred up to now, but customers might be warned of the necessity of having garage jacks placed accurately under the centre of the strengthened axle casing.
