c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 302 . DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}17/G.11.5.38. PHANTOM 111. REAR AXLE. [Handwritten and struck through: GRY{Shadwell Grylls}-AX.] Please receive herewith :- G1CD.668 Modification to Rear Axle Shaft and Driver. The splines on the shaft and the serrations in the driver have been increased by .125" on the diameter, to avoid the step down on the shaft from the plain diameter to the splines. The castellated nut and washer on the end of the shaft have been deleted, the safety device already on the bearing being considered sufficient without this additional precaution. These are the only parts affected. As the new driving dog should be tested we suggest that this shaft should be fitted to the next 10,000 miles car. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
