U.S.A.

For the attention of Mr. Knowles.

Dear Sirs,

Herewith prints GB.4994/5 showing a 12/41 .650 hypoid 8 1/2 ring gear pinion and wheel.

We want a slightly higher ratio and suggest 13/43 or 12/39. We do not want to alter appreciably the spiral angle as the range of axles we have of this size have been very successful. It may interest you to know that at 11/41 this axle is now operating at an engine torque of 260 lbs.ft.

Will you, therefore, please send us drawings of whichever ratios you prefer and also put in hand 3 pairs of gears which we should like to receive, if possible, by Sept. 15th.

Enclosed is also arrangement drawing of the axle. If you will keep this we can refer to it when necessary.

Our Order Office will send you an official order.

Yours faithfully,
for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
