Hancock - Head Chateauroux}32/KW.7.10.35. Phantom III. 31-EX. Hydraulic tappet noise at high speeds. 4,000 engine revs. 8 to 1 ratio eccentric for rockers. The noise was excessive at 4,000 engine revs, apparently the plungers were not following up at this speed. A 50% improvement has been made by replacing the springs under the plungers. As fitted, E.85321 4.750 lbs. working load. Replaced by E86880 5.750 lbs. working load. We should like a spring giving a working load of 7 lbs. for further tests.
