a separate unit in the manufacturing programme.

Some departure in the steering connections is necessary to make this construction possible, but so far as we have gone we believe a satisfactory solution has been secured for this part of the problem.

We know of no way of making this frame more rigid than the design in question provides without enclosing the engine, and we think it should attain to a degree which will not only give us what we desire for the independent suspension but which will also enable us to obtain the full advantages of a flexible engine mounting.

With regard to the radiator and bonnet, we may find it possible owing to the rigidity which our modern dashboards now possess to mount the radiator centrally and anchor it at the top by some form of cross stay to the dashboard, thereby banishing bonnet knocks for ever. The shorter distance between the radiator and bonnet would be of assistance in making this scheme successful.

We are attaching blueprint shewing the preliminary layout of the chassis illustrating the foregoing remarks, in respect to the front part of the frame.
