to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 48830 EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/3.12.25. S E C R E T . RE SPORTS BODIES . E.A.C.II. We have noted your reports re the effect of wind resistance on speed. On N.Sch.2083. herewith we have shewn the "Barker" Sports Body which already have fitted with revised wings and windscreen etc with a view to reducing the windage to a reasonable minimum, at least to equal that of the usual run of bodies fitted by the French coachbuilders to the Hispano-Suiza chassis. The body was built for an E.A.C.II. chassis, having the revised "D" steering, 36in. dash & frame extension at the rear. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has said that the driving seat is cramped. We wonder weather the correct column a pedals have been fitted. Now that Brooklands is closed possibly you could let us have the complete car when we will arrange for Barkers to go ahead. In the meanwhile we shall get their views on the construction of the wings, which will be made of alum. with special stays. The two piece screen is fitted with "Triplex". and can be made into a "V"screen or each half or both shut down. The glasses will be kept as small as possible. To give you all the weight we possibly can on the rear we shall send you in a few days a design of a rear wheel carrier to suit E.A.C.II.frame. The headlamps will also need special brackets a sketch of which we will let you have shortly. Would you kindly arrange that we may go a-head and let EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} know when we can have the chassis and body. It would be nice to have this car finished by the time our Riviera troubles begin. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} [Signature Stamp] Kindly let us know by wire if we are wrong in assuming that the chassis on which this body is mounted is an E.A.C.II. at least as far as the dash, steering and frame extension are concerned. | ||
