| X236 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW. 24th October, 1934. The Light Production Co.Ltd., 60/66, Rochester Row, Westminster, LONDON, S.W.1. For the attention of Mr. Brookes. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of October 15th. The usual procedure which has been adopted in the past with reference to parts supplied by outside firms for research work is to render an invoice marked "Free of Charge". Therefore when this is done both firms have a record of such parts. Our objection to issuing an order for experimental pieces and then being credited with these pieces when we return them is that, particularly in the case of articles such as pistons where many sets are supplied over a long period of time, we get involved with records, which we wish to avoid. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
