Inspection report on front and rear road springs and hydraulic dampers.

The front springing was satisfactory and no fractures of the spring leaves could be observed on outside examination. The lubrication of the spring anchorages at the rear end were not sufficient and a N°4 bijur was fitted. The front end lubrication was satisfactory no trouble was experienced with the clips. The attachment to the front axle remained firm. The Wefco gaiter on the N.S. was too close to the exhaust and became charred.

Improve lubrication to rear spring shackles SK 10.99/300

There was no indication of the rear spring failing springin was satisfactory. The lubrication from an outside observation appeared to be satisfactory. The anchorage to the axle remained firm.

REAR & FRONT HYDRAULIC DAMPERS LOP F 100841/A & SCH 269-291-196.

J III type hand controlled
O.S. damper had F 100749 stiffer cover containing 4 coil asbestos and F 56324 rubber packings.
N.S. had screwed gland containing S coil asbestos packing.

The damper with the stiffer gland leaked less oil than the screwed gland. The screwed gland does not appear to be satisfactory. It is a question of how tight the thread is whether oil leaks through it or not. The O.S. F.M. damper lost most of its oil past the thread there only being a slight
