Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC{R. Childs}1/Dn 13th August 1940. For the attention of Mr Crupper. Messrs LUCAS Ltd, Great King Street, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Sirs, We have lately had three cases of Headlamp rattle. In each case the fault was insufficient thickness in the rubber sealing ring which lies between the lamp front and the body. One car came in with the Headlamp appearance spoilt because the owner had fitted two of these rings to each lamp in order to prevent rattle. We have made an improvement on two pairs by fitting a narrow rubber band in the bottom of the groove underneath the standard ring. This is not a case of deterioration of the ring, since the fitting of a new ring, taken from a stock lamp, made no difference. Can you supply us with some sealing rings, say 25% thicker, for fitting to Headlamps having this complaint? Yours faithfully, | ||
