Re Claudel Hobson Carburetters.

We do not know whether you can possibly manage it, but we should be glad if you can get, for trial on the Mercedes Engine, two Claudel Hobson carburetters of two sizes suitable for an engine of the dimensions of the Mercedes at 2,000 revolutions, or our own engine at 1,600 revolutions, at which speed they each are capable of doing 50 HP per three cylinders, and we propose using a single carburetter for each of the three cylinders.

It will not be necessary to say anything about a 12 cylinder engine, but merely take it that we put two carburetters on each 6 cylinder engine of the above dimensions. These carburetters should be tested for power and economy on the Mercedes engine, and against the Mercedes and our own carburetter, and their behaviour should be, like the Mercedes carburetter, not automatic, but should give full power and a fair range of speed and load, and also be easy to start up.
