GOSHAWK 11. - STIFFER CRANKSHAFT. X4221

You will recollect that the stiffer crankshaft instructed for Goshawk 11. had both pins and journals .125 larger in diameter. The webs were .1 thicker and .3 wider than standard. The additional thickness in the webs was obtained by reducing the crankpins .150 in width and the bearings .050 in width.

It is important that the neck between the oil retainer at the rear end of the crankshaft flange should also be increased 1/8 in diameter as if this neck should be weaker than the journal it will most certainly result in a breakage at this point.
