31st December, 1937.

Dear Mr. Cunningham,

I was very glad to hear from you again - we missed you in Scotland this year.

There was hardly any grouse at all, Considering the fact that in many places the shooting at Rotal was remarkably good. It was spoiled to a certain extent by a gale which blew continuously for a fortnight. However, we totalled about 950 brace. Partridges have been the worst for years, but the Pheasants have done exceedingly well, particularly in Norfolk.

I was interested to read your comments on the Cadillac. I am inclined to agree with you that it is almost impossible to make an automobile of that sort into a satisfactory Sports car. Personally, I do not want to drive a car bigger than the Bentley, from a sports points of view.

I am glad your car is still going. The weight of the 4¼-litre engine and clutch, complete with fan, starter motor, dynamo, engine mounting, exhaust manifold, etc. is 619 lbs. The 4-speed gearbox weighs 103 lbs.

100 octane fuel should be perfectly all right on your car.

If you come over here in the Summer, I should like you to visit the Factory and see the latest 4¼-litre, which, if fitted with the sort of body you have on your car, would have a pretty lively performance.
