Dear Mr.Robotham,

The A.T. folk have now had an opportunity of inspecting the instrument with defective trip which you returned and they find that the failure was due to fracture of two trip star teeth.

Since the trouble experienced with this component due to the drop in percentage of tin content they have no record of a single failure, and as several thousand instruments have been supplied with an exactly similar component we are somewhat mystified. There is just one aspect of this matter which may account for the broken teeth, i.e. the fact that the particular instrument under notice was semi-hand manufactured incorporating new features. However, Messrs. A.T's Engineer, Mr.Arrowsmith, hopes to have the pleasure of visiting you on Wednesday next when he will submit the part to you for inspection.

Sincerely yours,

Charles Whincole
