The Insulating & Waterproofing Compounds Company (J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} HENDERSON, D Sc. M.I.E.E.) 99, CURTAIN ROAD, LONDON, E.C. "RACVAR." "Racvar" is a Gut Preservative which is used to waterproof and preserve the strings and frames of Tennis Racquets. It will be found to impregnate the gut and not merely coat over the surface like a varnish would do. In this way it prevents moisture from penetrating into the strings and rotting them. A racquet protected in this way will not suffer in a shower of rain as an unprotected one would. Also as it is waterproof the tension will not vary with the atmospheric conditions, unprotected gut being very sensitive to these. The application of "Racvar" to a racquet does not sensibly affect the tension of the strings, but if at all it will slightly tighten them. "Racvar" may also be used as a protective waterproof varnish on the wooden frame, thus preventing warping, and maintaining the correct shape of the racquet. To apply "Racvar" it should be painted on the strings and frame with a soft brush, and allowed to dry in the air. ANTI-SULPHURIC ENAMELS. These Enamels are supplied in various colours, viz: Black, Red, White, etc., and may be applied either to metal or woodwork. They give a bright lustrous surface, and will withstand the effects of acid fumes and spray. These Enamels are invaluable for the protection of Metal and Woodwork in Battery Rooms and Chemical Laboratories, and similar places where there is a prevalence of acid fumes and spray. | ||
