Sheet 15`ctd. 2107. ELECTROSTATIC VOLTMETERS. Switchboard Pattern. For direct connection to the circuit. For A.C. and D.C. Note. Up to a working pressure of 8,000 volts alternating, or 12,000 volts direct current, these instruments are connected directly to the circuit. They can be used on system having either one or both poles insulated, the movement being completely screened and insulated from the case. Weight 15lbs. 7kgs. 35lbs. 16kgs. SPECIAL PROTECTIVE RESISTANCES. These consist of a graphite resistance mounted on insulators and are strongly recommended as an additional safeguard. They can be employed on any voltage up to 8,000 volts. Where one pole is earthed, one resistance is sufficient, but when both poles are insulated, two are required. PROTECTIVE RESISTANCE, per pole (Code Word Stagan) £3 10 0 ELECTROSTATIC VOLTMETERS. Switchboard Pattern. Used with Condensers. For A.C. only. Note. Where the pressure exceeds 8,000 volts, condensers are employed. These are of tubular form and are attached to and hang vertically from the terminal. If specially called for, the condenser can be supplied mounted on an insulator at a small extra charge. These instruments can only be used on systems having one pole earthed. PORTABLE PATTERN. This is contained in a polished wood case (Fig. 1) with carrying handle. Up to 8,000 volts, alternating current, or 12,000 volts, direct current, it is self-contained and can be used on insulated or earthed systems. For higher pressures they are only suitable when one pole is earthed, condensers being employed, which are separate from the instrument. Several ranges can be furnished by employing additional condensers. The fact that two or more ranges are obtained without the use of substituting weights is a feature of considerable importance, the handling of such weights being undesirable from every point of view. Portable Pattern (Prefix Por- to Code Word). Up to 8,000 volts, 60/- extra on 12in. dial switchboard pattern prices. Above 8,000 volts, 90/- extra on 12in. dial switchboard pattern prices. | ||
