20 HP. CHASSIS 'M' SERIES MATERIAL.

In Conference with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} it has been decided that we shall order 50 Crankshafts of the present type, and all the material for co-related sections affected by same.

The above means that we are pushing back the stiffened crankshaft on the 20 HP. car 50 chassis. This has been done owing to the fact that production has been speeded up, and it is impossible in the time at our disposal to alter the dies and obtain material suitable for either type.

One other point of importance is that we shall order two cranks as Hand Forgings to enable the Experimental Dept. to be producing the new cranks at a very much earlier period than would be otherwise possible.

Immediately the 50 sets of cranks have been completed we should instruct Vickers to alter the dies, and then order forgings of the new type under the usual scheme.

P.S. Since writing the above, we find that the dies have already been altered. This will not alter the above policy other than it cancels the requirement for the two hand forgings.
