To WOM.) from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to CS. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} ORIGINAL [Handwritten: X. 286] SRE NEW AND IMPROVED CHASSIS WORK. My impression is that great efforts must be made to put through the various experimental pieces for the above more quickly in every department, including my own part (this part will be speeded) Can you consult with the various officers interested as well as BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} and HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and possibly see if HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}* could be of any help in getting together and criticising the various parts to improve the old chassis and make the new ones. *[Handwritten note in margin: This would have to be of post war time] X.3614 We decided some days ago that we must push forward 6 EX, and that this might be like the chassis Derby will be making when Springfield will be producing and therefore ought to be the Springfield model. Do not let it be delayed for bodywork, but rig it up temporarily like 49 GB, but about this I will write separately. X.3535 I am most anxious that the electrical units and wiring shall be well worked out to a finish and well tested, the short time I saw it there was a want of soundness about some of the details. If no one else could square them up mechanically good, try HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}, and send me duplicate pieces, I refer to the distributing board. I write, however, to speed up the production of the [Handwritten: X.3720] (1) Three speed box for 40/50 H.P. [Handwritten: X.3491] (2) The 20 H.P. [Handwritten: X.3408] (3) The Hawk Chassis. [Handwritten: X.3796] (4) The Buzzard chassis and engine parts. [Handwritten: X.3548] (5) The Vulture chassis and engine parts. [Handwritten: (6)] Improvements to the various electrical parts.
