Messrs.S.Smith & Sons Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
London, N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr.C.W.Nichols.

Dear Sir,

Yuo will remember on the occasion of our last outburst against faulty Smith Petrol Gauges, we suggested on the next occasion we had a small quantity of gauges faulty you would arrange to send a representative to see the gauges at our works and confirm that they were faulty before they were returned to you. This was to avoid the possibility of any misunderstanding between us regarding the methods of testing or rejecting these gauges, also in view of the fact that in the last batch of petrol gauges returned to you several were returned by your Service Manager which were reported to be satisfactory.

We now have three faulty tank units and one petrol meter available at our works and we should be glad if you would arrange for someone to come over to Derby to inspect the same as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
