MILD STEEL FRONT SUSPENSION PARTS.

With reference to Hyll/C.18.11.37., the reason we obtained quotations for Bentley front suspension pieces in mild steel was because the Packard pieces, which we are copying, are made in mild steel. Owing to the larger Packard cast iron engine they have, relatively speaking, more work to do than on the Bentley. Of course, it is vitally necessary to have absolutely consistent material, but we understood you to say this was possible if the mild steel was obtained from certain approved manufacturers.

We expect the endurance running we are carrying out on cast steel levers to give us a very good value for mild steel parts.

It is interesting to note that Packards will have made about 100,000 cars during 1937.
