ROLPH PATENT AUTOMATIC TRAFFIC WARNER. Description of the Rolph Patent Automatic Traffic Warner. THE Rolph Automatic Traffic Warner is a simple device which enables the driver of a car to signal automatically, without thought or action, to the traffic behind him, so safeguarding himself and others on the road, and eliminating the danger of collision. The Warner can be easily attached in a few minutes to any make of car ; no drilling of the chassis frame is necessary. The Rolph Automatic Warner is operated either by the clutch or foot brake and side brake. The signal SLOW is made automatically directly the clutch or foot brake pedal is depressed. The signal STOP is operated by the side brake. The device itself is fixed on the tail lamp bracket like an ordinary lamp. It is clearly readable in daylight, and at night it is illuminated by electricity or by oil or acetylene. It is, in fact, a combination tail lamp and traffic warner. IT ILLUMINATES THE NUMBER PLATE, SHOWS THE REGULATION RED LIGHT, AND SHOWS THE DRIVER BEHIND YOU WHAT YOU INTEND DOING, IN ILLUMINATED LETTERS. The signals RIGHT and LEFT are shown on the device by arrows. These signals cannot be operated automatically, as, of course, indication of the driver's intention has to be given some distance before the corner is reached. These latter signals are operated by a simple lever attached to the steering column or in any other convenient position, and the lever is moved to the right or left according to the direction the driver intends to take. The mechanism of the Rolph Automatic Traffic Warner is simple, efficient, and fool-proof. YOU DON'T HAVE TO THINK TO USE IT—YOU JUST DRIVE YOUR CAR, AND IT THINKS FOR YOU AND SAFEGUARDS YOU. The diagrams, A and B, compare the visibility of signals made by the Rolph Automatic Traffic Warner with those made by the human arm.
