To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} 1328 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.10/JH.20.10.37. 6.B.IV Car - Thermostat. As a result of the thermostat failure which we have had on 6.B.IV and 3.B.IV cars, we have decided to go for a somewhat different system - namely use the same thermostat and casing with a ½" pipe bypass direct to the pump, retaining the standard hotspot water feed. This scheme must therefore be fitted to 6.B.IV car in order to get it on quickly will you please remove the special waterpump and thermostat casing from 1.B.IV car and fit them together with a ½" bypass pipe ( which we will hand you ) to 6.B.IV, converting the latters hot spot feed back to standard. At the same time the dummy shutter grille off 1.B.IV radiator (which belongs to 6.B.IV car) can be refitted to 6.B.IV. radiator. Finally will you please put 1.B.IV car cooling system as near as possible standard as this car is being sold. This will entail fitting its own radiator (which we will hand you) fitting standard water outlet to cylinder head, fitting standard water pump. Summarising the following is a list of the work requested above. (a) 6.B.IV car. (1) Fit thermostat and casing ex 1.B.IV car. (2) Fit waterpump ex 1.B.IV car. (Make sure same is in good order) having fitted car heater connection to same. (3) Fit ½" bypass pipe supplied by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. (4) Put hotspot water feed back to standard. (5) Fit dummy shutter assembly ex 1.B.IV to 6.B.IV radiator. All parts existing. | ||
