X1023 By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} E.7/HP.17.3.36. re Bumpers on Bentley Chassis. Subsequent to the Barclay accident it was generally agreed that we should fit safety clips to the bumpers, and a set of these has already been fixed to the big bore Bentley Sales trials car. I have also told Sales that these were to be fitted immediately on production, and they are all expecting it, as per memo E.2/HP.2.3.36. There has, however, been some delay in issuing the standardisation sheet, but this is now being attended to immediately. When instructing for production could you kindly arrange for all 4¼ litre Bentley chassis that have so far left the works to be fitted with the safety clips. Would you also please instruct a set of these clips for trials car BG-GA to be sent to Paris to be fitted to this chassis, at ---'s request. Would you also kindly instruct a further set of fittings for trials car B-2-GA which goes into commission this week at Sales.. It is anticipated that the Experimental will carry out the tests asked for in E.7/HP.28.2.36. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
