Sir,
FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE CHIEF DESIGNER.
Of all troubles directly associated with sparking plugs those caused by over oiling are by far the most prevalent.
Present methods of lubrication rely almost entirely on the user for their degree of efficiency and it is safe to say that so long as this is the case there will always be a large percentage of cases of over oiling with its detrimental effects on regular and effective firing.
The only simple way of obviating oiling or sooting up plugs while still maintaining a generous allowance of oil, is to isolate the plug electrodes as completely as possible from oil and carbon carrying gases. With all existing types of plugs the electrodes are exposed to almost full combustion pressures ans in course of time, from half an hour onwards, inevitably become coated with o carbon and in instances of very excessive lubrication, fouled with oil. With the object of minimising this prolific source of trouble various methods of isolating the electrodes have from time to time been adopted but so far have met with very little success.
A patented invention which has for its qualification the total elimination of misfiring due to over oiling is embodied in the Karntoil adaptor. By the simple arrangement of two baffles on the inside of the adaptor the carbon resulting from combustion is positively prevented from reaching the electrodes as is also all oil drawn up past the piston rings.
The Karntoil adaptor has been subjected to the most rigorous tests under a variety of conditions during the past twelve months with the result that we guarantee it to prevent all misfiring troubles caused by any degree of over oiling.
