To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 22.8.33. - 3 - EXHAUST MOUNTING We have had the rear soft rubbers out for examination and find that our impression of the rubbers having collapsed is not quite so much as we thought. What is really taking place is, the rubbers being so soft they are pulled out of shape by distortion and weight of the silencer. The tail pipe suspension rattles sideways because there is not sufficient rubber to support it centrally. It moves over and hits the tube. To cure it we have filled the hole round the tube and the inner dia. of rubber blocks with soft rubber, also the two supporting cups the hole has been filled with rubber. We have found the springs supporting the front end to be quite satisfactory. - - - - - - - - We have not as yet received the new exhaust system you spoke of, as being sent out. We have also not received the Fan or thin gasket. Our exhaust system is free from booms and trouble, why change it. We have dispatched the petrol Pump Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} asked for that was latterly used. It has been sent by the General Transport Co. The holes for clamping the fabrics became torn, they were not in a good condition when received, otherwise the fabrics are still good. We are enclosing two photos of the S.U. petrol pumps in position. They can be seen quite plainly with a glass. [Signature: G.W.Hancock] G.W.H. | ||
