P.2 GEARBOX WITH EPICYCLIC THIRD.

In my report of yesterday ref: Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/WJ.11.2.32., I omitted to mention one point where the synchro mesh box is definitely better than the gearbox with the epicyclic third.

If the car is stopped at a traffic light it is necessary to get away on 2nd. speed. With the synchro-mesh there is an easy change from second to third, and from third to top. On the gearbox with the epicyclic third there is no easy change from second to third.
