To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

Replying to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}8/El.5.29. We have sent new parts out to 22-EX car which we expect will overcome the squeaking. 21-EX car which is running with similar parts so far is free from this trouble. The reason we think this has come up on the S.S. is due to several features in the design affecting the proportion of braking front and rear so that we/were getting considerably more braking on the front than we had on the Phantom. This has now been rectified.

The question of oil leaking from the rear of the engine as been dealt with and alterations have been made to 21-EX car. This now appears to be satisfactory.

As regards the starter motor. A number of tests have been made which have shewn that most of the original faults have been overcome. We are rather disturbed by a recent report we have received from our man IXX at Chateauroux to the effect that the starter motr on that car has failed. We are waiting to receive full particulars and we will send you a copy when they arrived.
