The axle must be improved - shaft lower, windows with semi-circular ends, and upper flange thicker. Also obtain new forging to still further lower shaft and reinforce window. Caseharden the change speed shaft, and try case- hardened XIXA bushes also. Halve stiffness of centring spring, and also reduce depth of groove for locating plungers. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
