Dear Bernard,

I enclose an official letter confirming our telephone conversation of today, when I said that Rolls-Royce would promise to re-turn the winches in condition equal to that in which they were borrowed.

I hope my petrol ration will allow me to attend one of the "first Sunday" lunches at the Marquis.
